Enjoy your visit to the wine trail
Quite often people come to the area to visit family or friends. The scenic beauty offers a great backdrop for weddings and parties. The area is also host to many small town festivals and events so check the event calenders when you plan a visit. The premiere event this fall is the Chesapeake Bay Wine and Harvest Festival at Stratford Hall Plantation. Spice up your visit by touring the wine trail and enjoy an educational and tasty experience. Thanks go out to Lindsay Filz of the Baltimore Wine Examiner for reminding us why we love doing what we do. |

Virginia Wine Time visits CBWT
Summer Pours On the Chesapeake Bay Wine Trail offers a detailed visit from the blogging team of Warren Richard and Paul Armstrong. They had the opportunity to tour the area on July 11/12, 2009 and reported on the treasures to be found. They posted lots of photos and had a great time exploring Virginia’s Chesapeake Bay Country from the wine aficionado perspective. Their mission is to sip and savor from wineries all over Virginia and as our trail has expanded they are doing their best to keep up. Thanks for the coverage. |

Rappahannock Record covers wine tourism conference - March 4th 2009
Wine tourism and local business leaders gathered at Belle Mount Vineyards for a conference on March 4th. The event was attended by almost 100 people seeking ways to work cooperatively with the wine trail. New relationships developed and the guests were impressed by the dinner with wines currently produced by some of the Chesapeake Bay Wine Trail members. The Rappahannock Record represented the local newspaper and covered the story on their website with a picture of Patty Held, a guest speaker on winery marketing. The conference was a great success and many people want to become involved in the next step. A wine trail passport program and a multitude of events are now on the schedule. Thanks go out to Bay Etching and Imprinting of Lively for helping produce the event and for the wonderful demonstration on the taste differences in wine glasses. |

Napa East?
While arriving at RIC Richmond International Airport recently I was greeted by an invitation to vineyard living at New Kent Vineyards. The boarding gate ramp welcomes you to wine country living here in Virginia. New Kent Winery is encouraging you to make your home among the vineyards, winery and their golf course here in New Kent County. Scenic and tasteful beauty - who could ask for more? We already know there is a lot going on at New Kent and now many people are starting to call it home. Vineyard living is a lifestyle. This year the Chamber of Commerce is holding their first wine festival. A taste of New Kent is the place to be on May 16th, 2009. Call 1-866-vineyards or see website for information on the new project between Richmond and Williamsburg.

Wine Trail Traveler Visits CBWT
In January of 2009 Terry and Kathy Sullivan, of WineTrailTraveler.com, enjoyed a visit to the Chesapeake Bay Wine Trail to review the new and upcoming wineries of the region. By touring the area in the mid-winter season they were able to enjoy the slower pace and have great interaction with the owners of the wineries. A preview was provided by Steve Madey of The Hague Winery, while discussing an opening scheduled for May. The other wineries are generally open all year, but not necessarily every day. Thanks to Terry & Kathy for providing insights into what the visitor can expect on the Chesapeake Bay Wine Trail. See the wine trail traveler website for a virtual tour. |
